Leadership Team
The S-BAR Leadership Team provides core project management and intellectual
capital development, and collectively represents more than a century
of experience and expertise in the areas of sustainable business practices,
market transformation, and business systems.
Currently under development, the Advisory Council will include a diverse
set of national leaders in the field of sustainable business.
A series of Stakeholder Councils provide deep expertise and feedback
on S-BAR’s five principal domains: Governance and Management; Environment;
Workplace; Marketplace; and, Community.
S-BAR is affiliated fiscally with the National
Environmental Education and Training Foundation (NEETF), a 501(c)3
nonprofit chartered by the U.S. Congress to advance environmental literacy
with the goal of promoting better health, improved education, environmentally
sound and profitable business, and volunteerism in local communities.

of experience designing
and implementing award-winning
environmental programs
and public policies that
favor sustainability.
- GIL FRIEND - President & CEO, Natural Logic Inc. — a leading
systems ecologist and business strategist
with 30 years experience in business
development and environmental innovation.
- DAVID JOHNSTON - President, What’s Working LLC — a veteran environmental
consultant and part of the U.S. Green
Building Council’s original LEED development
team.
- JUSTIN LEHRER - Program Manager, StopWaste.Org — developer of
business sustainability
programs for state and local government, software development
manager, and technical consultant to
U.S. EPA.
- JOEL MAKOWER - Founder, GreenBiz.com — veteran writer, speaker,
and strategist on sustainable business and green marketing.
- KIMERY WILTSHIRE - President & CEO, Exloco — Develops and implements innovative campaigns and strategies for progressive "social profits". 25 years experience serving as Board member, Executive Director, or team leader for a number of campaigns, projects and foundations.
- DIANE WOOD - President, National Environmental Education & Training
Foundation.
